Methodist Medical Center is a key resource and a common good for our community. Its importance to our collective well-being cannot be understated.
But we have seen across our state, especially in rural communities, hospitals having to scale back services. Our state has the 2nd most hospital closings in the country. This hurts all of us, and is something that we are organizing our communities around.
Our panel discussion will consider:
- Why is the hospital important to our community?
- What are the consequences individually and collectively when a community does not have a strong hospital?
- How does having a hospital like MMC benefit our community both as individuals and collectively (economic, quality of life, etc.)?
- What does it take to maintain a high functioning hospital and what are the challenges we face at MMC?
